Accordion repair

GSB is among the several Castelfidardo-based companies that manufacture accordion components or assemble finished instruments. Besides producing accordion keyboards and mechanical assemblies, the company is able to offer an additional service of fundamental importance to both private customers and small companies, namelyrepair and technical assistance.
The accordion is a rather complex instrument comprising three main parts:the right-hand manuals body (melody end), the bellows in the centre and the left-hand manuals body (bass end).
Repairing GSB accordions and melodeons (“organettos”) requires a certain degree of expertise as there are substantial differences between these two instruments, mainly involving the reeds:in the accordion, the two strips comprising the reed produce the same sound, while in the melodeon they generate two different sounds.
 
When travelling through Castelfidardo – the accordion capital – do not forget to visit the International Accordion Museum housed in the Town Hall (Palazzo Comunale).Castelfidardo has been the major production centre for accordions for over a century and the museum is entirely dedicated to this musical instrument, which contributes to upholding the reputation of “made in Italy” items to this day thanks to companies like GSB that continue to manually produce and repair instruments using artisan techniques and top-grade materials.
